• The Primary object of the trust is: “To establish, manage, maintain, run, support and facilitate the furtherance and promotion of Educational, Cultural, Charitable, Social, Religious and Welfare Associations and Projects by providing financial, material and assistance of every other description aimed at the physical, educational, moral, cultural, religious, economic and social development needs of deserving people.


• To establish, manage, maintain, run, support and grant aid or other financial assistance to schools, colleges, libraries, reading rooms, universities, laboratories, research and other institutions of the like nature in Sri Lanka and other parts of the world, for use of the students and the staff and also for the development and advancement of education and diffusion of knowledge amongst the public in general.


• To establish, manage, maintain and run studentships, scholarships and render other kind of aid to students including supply of books, stipends, medals and other incentives to study, without any distinction as to caste, colour, creed, race, ethnicity or gender in Sri Lanka and abroad, having similar objects for the benefit of the public in general.


• To promote, establish, support, maintain or grant aid to institutions for the promotion of science, literature and fine arts, for the preservation of historical records and for the research and other institutions, in Sri Lanka and abroad, having similar objects for the benefit of the public in general.


• Operating seminars and discussions in school students who prepare for local as well as international Examinations.


• Organizing art, cultural and religious events in collaboration with recognized groups and/or social movements and providing assistance to organize the events in the best possible way.


• To establish, maintain or grant aid to homes for the aged, orphanages or other establishments for the relief and help to the poor, needy and destitute people, orphans, widows and aged persons.


• To establish and develop institutions for the physically handicapped and disabled or mentally retarded persons and to provide them education, food, clothing or other help.


• To grant relief and assistance to the needy victims during natural calamities such as famine, earth quake, flood, fire, pestilence, health epidemic crisis etc. and to give donations and other assistance to institutions, establishments or persons engaged in such relief work.


• To grant aid or render assistance to other public charitable trusts or institutions.

• Act solely in the best interests of the Trust and its beneficiaries.
• Exercise prudent and responsible management of all trust assets.

• Preserve, protect, and promote the Trust’s founding mission, vision, and values.
• Ensure that all activities and initiatives align with the Trust's charitable objectives.

• Approve, review, and monitor budgets, financial plans, and expenditures.
• Ensure the conduct of independent annual audits and full compliance with financial reporting requirements.

• Uphold all legal obligations, trust deed requirements, and ethical standards.
• Disclose any conflicts of interest and act transparently in all dealings.

• Actively participate in setting long-term strategic goals and periodically reviewing the Trust’s strategic direction.

• Develop, implement, and review policies that ensure effective governance, operational excellence, and legal compliance.

• Select and appoint a qualified, competent Head of Academy who embodies the vision and values of the Trust.
• Provide necessary support and oversight to the Head of Academy, primarily through evaluation of performance based on agreed objectives.

• Trustees shall not interfere directly in the day-to-day administration, staffing, or operational matters of the Academy.
• Any directives, concerns, or strategic messages to the Academy’s management must arise collectively through a formal decision of the Board.
• No trustee shall act individually, issue instructions, or behave as a self-appointed overseer or supervisor of Academy staff.

• Actively support fundraising activities and assist in resource mobilization for the sustainability of the Trust and Academy.

• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks to the Trust’s assets, reputation, and operational integrity.

• Ensure transparent and timely communication with stakeholders, including publication of annual reports and audited financial statements.

• Recruit, train, and evaluate trustees to ensure the Board remains effective, diverse, and committed to the Trust’s mission.

• Possesses a genuine desire to serve the Trust’s mission for the sake of Allah and the community, not for personal gain or recognition.

• Understands and honors the sacred trust of safeguarding the Trust’s mission, assets, and reputation.

• Upholds and promotes Islamic principles of justice, fairness, compassion, and accountability in all decisions and actions.

• Listens actively, collaborates effectively, and contributes without seeking personal prominence.

• Demonstrates commitment to responsibilities, meets deadlines, and accepts accountability before fellow trustees.

• Shows patience, emotional intelligence, and wisdom in navigating complex and sensitive matters.

• Maintains strict confidentiality in all Trust affairs; avoids gossip, slander, and unauthorized disclosure.

Professional and Functional Skills

• Contributes to long-term visioning, planning, and the setting of strategic priorities.

• Understands budgets, financial statements, and fiduciary duties. (Background in accounting or finance is an asset.)

• Familiar with legal obligations, charity governance standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Previous service on boards, committees, or leadership roles in reputable organizations is highly desirable.

• Supports and contributes to fundraising efforts and donor relationship-building.

• Possesses strong verbal and written communication abilities, including conflict resolution and tactful negotiation.

• Capable of identifying potential risks and helping to develop mitigation and contingency plans.

• Well-connected within the community and able to effectively advocate for the Trust’s mission and partnerships.

• Understands educational systems, curriculum standards, and challenges in the academic sector (especially relevant if the Trust is involved in educational initiatives).
